Responding to a Seizure: First Aid and Treatments
The first thing you should do if someone is having a seizure is stay calm. How you respond depends on the type of seizure the child is having. Your goal is to keep the child safe to avoid any injuries.
When responding to a seizure:
-
● Time the seizure
-
● Remove any hard or sharp objects
-
● If possible roll the child onto her side
-
● Comfort the child by talking to her in a calm voice
-
● When the seizure ends check for injuries to the child
-
● Do NOT put anything in the child's mouth during the seizure
