The Campus

Today's Children's Memorial carries its missions out from a 247-bed campus in one of Chicago's most vibrant, attractive and accessible neighborhoods. The hospital is two miles from the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) and one mile from Lake Shore Drive. The Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory and many other cultural and recreational activities are nearby.

The nine floors of the hospital's bed tower create a cheerful and friendly environment for more than 13,000 children each year. Our patient population represents a broad spectrum of socioeconomic status, ethnic background, and geographic distribution that ranges from the immediate Chicago area as well as a referral population throughout Illinois and several surrounding states. Children's Memorial is ever expanding and changing to further serve its patients and staff. Plans for the next ten years include constructing a new hospital , and renovating current ambulatory facilities, operating rooms and physician's offices.

The Robert J. Winter Educational Center opened in the fall of 2006, housing newly expanded and furnished facilities (including educational conference rooms and a resident lounge). Brennemann Library is open to residents 24 hours a day, providing a full spectrum of texts, periodicals and on-line services and photocopying privileges. Children's Memorial Hospital also has several affiliated institutions that residents visit during their training. All of these institutions are in the immediate Chicago area and are accessible by public transportation.
