Families choose Children's Memorial because its medical staff is
one of the finest amassed anywhere in pediatrics. More than 210 pediatricians and
pediatric specialists in all types of childhood illnesses are based at the hospital,
complemented by some 720 attending physicians who practice in communities
throughout the Chicago area and in Northern Indiana. Children's Memorial
physicians accept referrals from practitioners throughout the Midwest and other
parts of the country.
All of the full-time members of the Children's Memorial medical staff hold
faculty appointments at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.
As a member of the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, Children's
Memorial is the primary pediatric teaching site for the medical school, offering
almost every pediatric medical and surgical specialty and subspecialty
known.
In each of these areas, attention to state-of-the-art research is very much a
mainstream priority for the full-time staff. Progress at Children's Memorial in
cardiology, neonatology, infectious disease, neurology, gastroenterology,
emergency medicine, hematology/oncology, rheumatology, transplant surgery,
dermatology, kidney diseases and preventive medicine is particularly notable in
this regard.
