A message from the Program Directors

Children's Memorial Hospital is one of the major pediatric teaching hospitals in the United States. Teaching plays a vital role in the life of the institution; it permeates the hospital from top to bottom. Our commitment to optimal education means a commitment to optimal patient care.

Mediocrity has no place in our residency program. The pediatric residents we are educating quickly become the conscience of our program. Our residents become our heritage in the medical education process and contribute to our overall excellence in patient care.

Education goes on around the clock and occurs at all levels at Children's Memorial. Third-year residents teach and learn from second- and first-year residents, medical students and nurses. In the process, faculty physicians teach all of them and often learn as much as their students do. Our system of teaching and learning is much like the environment of a small college with as many teachers as there are students.

Quality education is inseparable from our quality patient care. The fact that Children's Memorial is a teaching hospital attracts a different type of physician to our faculty. The faculty physicians at Children's Memorial are among the leaders in the nation in their specialty areas. In turn, they attract some of the best and brightest medical school graduates to our training program. The excellence of our faculty and house staff results in exceptional patient care programs.

We are grateful for your interest and look forward to your application.
