Course description - The NCAST I
program is an education program which provides nurses and other healthcare
professionals with:
- Research-based information about infant behavior which can be applied to
infant assessment, infant care, and parent teaching. Specific areas of infant
behavior to be addressed include: a.) Sleep/wake organization b.) State
regulation c.)Infant behavior derived from the Brazelton Neonatal Assessment
Scale d.) Infant cues
- A child health assessment model which looks at infant behavior,
parent-infant interaction and the environment in identifying infants at risk
for developmental issues.

Accreditation: This program has been accredited by the Illinois
Nurses' Association for 8.2 contact hours.
