Understanding your bill

As a patient, parent or guardian, you have the right to review your child's medical records and your bill and to have them explained as well as a responsibility to meet the financial obligations for care. We know that medical bills can seem complicated and we will work with you to make sure you understand your bill.

It's important to know that the hospital and each physician providing services for your child send separate bills. For example, charges for X-rays are part of the hospital bill, which covers facility, equipment and clinical staff. The physician bill covers the time and expertise of the physicians (radiologists) who read and interpret the X-rays and send their findings to the physician who ordered the test.

As a result of suggestions made to us from families like yours, we have re-designed our hospital statement to provide you with complete, easy-to-read information about your bill. As we move forward, you may continue to receive some hospital statements in our old format. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition period.
