Spiritual care
Our spiritual and pastoral care staff is dedicated to creating a caring environment that
acknowledges and respects the importance of each person's spirituality and its
potential for promoting health and wholeness of body, mind, and spirit.
- Chaplains serve patients and families from all faith traditions, as well
as those who are skeptical, searching, or just want to talk.
- Chaplains help patients and families draw on their own religious/spiritual
strengths as they face the issues raised by a child's illness. They support in
difficult times, rejoice in times of good news and healing, pray or listen if
patients and families need a willing ear.

Chaplains help patients and families meet religious and spiritual needs
for prayer or ritual, such as a Qur'an, a prayer book, Sabbath candles, a
blessing before surgery, or a visit from a religious leader from a specific
faith tradition.
- Chaplains help families in crisis situations by counseling,
problem-solving and identifying options when it seems like none exist.
- Children's Memorial's chapel is a place for prayer and meditation for
people of all faiths. Located near the hospital cafeteria, it is open 24 hours
a day. Interfaith worship services are held on Fridays and Sundays.
- Children's Memorial serves patients and
families of many different religious backgrounds. If you wish to connect with
your own faith group during your hospital stay, please contact our Pastoral
Care Department at 773.880.4005. Our chaplains will be glad to assist you.
- Children's Memorial chaplains are available 24 hours a day. There are both English-
