A public health approach to social emotional learning

The research is abundantly clear: a comprehensive, school-based mental health plan will best serve our nation’s children and improve both their academic and social functioning.  But what does that actually mean?  This professional training will orient teachers, administrators, and mental health professionals to the new public health model that is being used in schools to deliver social emotional learning services and improve access to mental health services.  General concepts, policy implications, and empirical data will be reviewed.

Dealing with Your Child’s Stress

Work. Family. Finances. Ugh! Our own lives are enough to keep us perpetually stressed out. But what about our kids? What sort of stress are they under and how do they learn how to handle it?  This workshop helps parents identify stress in their children, and offers some basic strategies that can be used at home to help their children manage their stress.  Stress management techniques for parents are also reviewed.  This is the perfect workshop for any parent group with active children.
