Central DuPage Hospital and Children's Memorial Hospital pursue partnership to provide area children with nationally recognized pediatric care
Children's Memorial at CDH will offer close-to-home, expanded set of
superior pediatric sub-specialty programs and services
March 1 - Central DuPage
Hospital and Children's Memorial Hospital announced
today their signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish a premier,
comprehensive regional pediatric care program. 'Children's Memorial at CDH' will
bring the full resources and expertise of Chicago's only U.S. News & World
Report-top-ten-rated children's hospital to Central DuPage Hospital's
campus.
"'Children's Memorial at CDH' will offer DuPage, Kane and Will county's
children access to the regions' leading sub-specialists, treatments,
technologies, equipment and facilities," said Luke McGuinness, president and CEO
of Central DuPage Hospital."The partnership will ensure that Central DuPage and
our nationally-recognized partner, Children's Memorial Hospital, will deliver
the highest quality pediatric sub-specialty care in the area. 'Children's
Memorial at CDH' will become the western suburbs' pediatric destination
institution for inpatient and outpatient services."
"Central DuPage Hospital is the right partner for Children's Memorial
Hospital in the western suburbs," said Patrick Magoon, president and CEO of
Children's Memorial Hospital. "This partnership is based on the principle that
children should be cared for in the most convenient and appropriate setting.
CDH's existing obstetric and pediatric programs are excellent. We are eager to
join our expertise with CDH's to provide the most comprehensive and advanced
pediatric sub-specialty care and facilities in DuPage County and the surrounding
areas.
In July, Children's Memorial will assume responsibility for inpatient
physician coverage for the 23-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the 6-bed
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and provide consultative services for the
12-bed inpatient pediatric unit. All community-based pediatricians, family
practitioners, currently practicing pediatric sub-specialists and adult-trained
specialists will continue to maintain admitting and attending privileges at CDH.
In addition, Children's Memorial and CDH are planning to bring Children's
Memorial pediatric sub-specialists to the CDH campus in order to establish a
comprehensive ambulatory clinic, inpatient and outpatient pediatric surgery, a
dedicated pediatric Emergency Department and Urgent Care program, and enhanced
state-of-the-art pediatric testing and diagnostic services.
"This is a great day for the children and families of our community."
McGuinness said. "An affiliation with Children's Memorial Hospital will be a
major benefit to the families of our region. Along with our recently opened
Women and Children's Pavilion and our soon-to-be-opened Ambulatory Services
Pavilion, the CDH-Children's Memorial partnership is a key component in CDH's
broad, far-reaching plans to offer the highest quality, most advanced healthcare
in the western suburbs."
