Children's Memorial named one of the nation's best in Child Magazine
Children's Memorial Hospital has been named one of the
top 20 children's hospitals in the country according to Child magazine's 2007 comprehensive survey of top pediatric
hospitals.
Children's Memorial ranked
number 18 out of seventy-six children's hospitals surveyed, and number 10 in the
pediatric subspecialty, Pulmonary. No other
children's
hospital in Illinois made the list.
The
comprehensive 247-question survey, guided by the leading pediatric experts,
examines vital medical information including survival rates, the number of
complex procedures and intricate surgeries conducted, volume of research
studies, efforts to reduce medical errors, and the quality and training of the
doctors and nurses—as well as child-friendliness, support for families, and
community involvement. The survey was sent to 116 full members of the National
Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions last August.
Seventy-six hospitals completed the survey. The responses were graded to
determine the best hospitals overall and the leaders in six pediatric
subspecialty areas.
Child has a circulation of 825,000 and is published ten times a year. The
2007 results will be published in its February issue.
