Each year, on the last Saturday in June, Children's Memorial Hospital partners with 43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley to host the Annual 43rd Ward Summer Safety Festival at Lincoln Park High School. With head injuries being the leading cause of death in bike crashes, this free family-oriented event focuses on bike safety, providing the first 150 kids to arrive on wheels a free helmet, properly fitted by trained experts, Mayor Daley's  Bicycle Ambassadors. The Injury Prevention department assists with the helmet fitting and provides a safety course for chileren to navigate at the event.

Free entertainment is provided at the event by local performing groups, and food is provided by local restaurants. As an added bonus, there is a free raffle for the children, with a grand prize of one free child's bicycle donated by Village Cycle Center.
