Construction Alert

Beginning the week of May 5, Children’s Memorial will begin construction on the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago at 225 E. Chicago Ave. (next to Northwestern Memorial’s Prentice Women’s Hospital). 

In preparation, our contractor will be installing a pedestrian canopy on Chicago Avenue beginning Wednesday, April 30 to be completed within a week. Per the City of Chicago permit, the work hours will be 7 p.m.- 6 a.m. There will not be any heavy machinery utilized for this installation, so we expect minimal noise.

Throughout May, the following will occur:

  • Barricades installed
  • Site cleared
  • Site pre-trenched for sheeting installation
  • Begin establishing earth retention system
  • Start sheeting installation
  • Commence site excavation

During the rest of 2008 we will complete the earth retention system, install caissons and continue site excavation.

The construction team will typically work 6 days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, in the event of unanticipated delays, such as inclement weather, and to ensure timely completion of construction, work may be done on Sundays. All work will be done within the 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. time frames of the City of Chicago noise ordinance.

April 24, 2008 Community Presentation

Children's Memorial held a community meeting about construction plans for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Hospital leaders and our construction management team presented plans and answered questions about the new building.
