Window Falls Press Conference, June 30

Karen Sheehan, MD, medical director of the Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Chicago and emergency room physician at Children's Memorial spoke about the number of window falls seen at the hospital and offered tips on preventing window falls in children. Maggie Allen, mother of 5-year-old Owen, who fell from a 1st floor window, shared her story to help prevent similar accidents from happening to others. In 2004, the hospital implemented the Stop the Falls campaign which is supported by Kohl's Department Stores. Educational posters for Stop the Falls are displayed on CTA trains and buses.
