General Position Description:
Performs responsibilities in five areas of nursing practice: clinician,
teacher, researcher, leadership and professional development. Understands
and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal,
pediatric and adolescent patients in regards to their growth and
development process. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and
department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals,
individually and as an effective team member. |

Job Responsibilities:
Clinician behaviors include: assessment of the complex needs of the
patient and family by utilizing a variety of assessment methods and/or
area specific tool. Plan of care by using mutually agreed-upon goals
incorporating family strengths and limitations, demonstrate mastery of
area-specific skills. Supports effective functioning of the team during
emergencies. Documents a variety of interventions designed to meet
comprehensive development, social and spiritual needs of the family.
Develops a therapeutic relationship with families through continuous
collaboration. Coordinates care with the multi-disciplinary team for
simple to complex patients. Evaluates patient progress by documenting
patient and family response to changes in plan of care. Teacher behaviors
include: assessing family and learning needs considering factors which may
influence health promotion. Collaborates with the family to develop the
teaching plan based on learning needs. Incorporate factors which influence
behaviors or create health risks. Document revisions of the teaching plan
that reflect lifestyle and environmental factors. Researcher behaviors
include: demonstrate an ability to develop a thorough review of literature
related to an area of interest including recommendations of application of
practice/or: directs work of task force to improve practical problems
through research review and/or the utilization process Leadership
behaviors include: is a role model of communication and customer service
standards, demonstrates team building skills, has established professional
contacts, initiates mechanisms that effect a positive change process and
assist others in the development of these critical thinking skills.
Professional development includes: Identify and evaluates progress toward
yearly goals for self as they relate to Hospital goals in clear,
measurable terms with time frames, utilize or provide resources for
development and change, plan or provide continuing education activity
within area of expertise based on assessed needs
annually. |

Requirements
Job Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current licensure
as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Ability to safely immobilize
children if necessary and to assess and respond quickly to patient care
situations. Ability to move equipment and patients. Ability to effectively
communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital
staff.
