The Flow Cytometry Facility is an established service facility that provides
cell sorting and flow cytometric analysis to principal investigators and their
lab personnel throughout CMRC. This position includes the operation,
maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation in this facility. The
individual will develop fluorescence assays pertinent to the research needs of
CMRC utilizing instrumentation and computer software.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Independently analyzes data. Independently works with
users in the development and application of protocols utilizing the facility’s
technology.

Develops and maintains accurate records of
collection

Operates and maintains laser-based cell sorter and
cytometer (FACSAria II, FACSCalibur) to provide cell sorting and analysis
services to CMRC’s researchers.

Performs quality control procedures on the facility’s
instruments and troubleshoots problems that arise on the
instrumentation.

Serves as facility technician in the evaluation and
testing of upgraded versions of products and software from technology
vendors.
FTE status: FT-80
Requirements
-
MS with 3-5 years lab experience or BS with 4-7 years lab
experience

Demonstrable experience in state of the art flow
cytometry

Ability to work independently and apply acquired
knowledge to a broad range of research projects across many disciplines.

Possess good organizational and communication skills,
initiative and independence, and have the ability to interact with all CMRC
researchers, students and staff in a professional manner.

Knowledge of protocols and assays commonly used in the
research setting is preferred.
