To perform a variety of food service tasks in support of
the hospital food service program. The incumbent will work under moderate
supervision primarily in the following areas: Cafeteria, main kitchen, and
dish-room. The incumbent will be expected to adhere to establish guidelines in
regard to hospital, sanitation and safety standards, and cash handling
controls.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate cash register, collect cash and charge
tickets and dispense correct change to customers, while maintaining an
efficient line speed.
- Organize and assemble food and supplies requisitions
for department and others within hospital campus.
- Maintain working knowledge of all positions on
patient tray assembly belt; select food items on tray belt by reading patient
selection.
- Set up and break down serving lines as required.
Cleans and disinfects tables, chairs, stoves, ovens, counters, hoods, mixers,
blenders, meat saws, grinders, and other kitchen equipment.
- Operate dishwashers to clean dishes, utensils,
glasses, cups, and other items.
- Fill, maintain, and clean various liquid dispensers, food condiments,
refrigerators and freezers and ice cream machines.
FTE status: PT-40
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 1-2
years of food service experience within a healthcare setting is desired.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form is required.
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and
safely.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are
important.
- Prefer Chicago Public Health Food Handling Certification. Ability to
follow JCAHO regulations for food handling, sanitation and food preparation
desired.
