Director Epic Training

Area Specific Job Accountabilities:

  1. Leads the planning, design, implementation, evaluation and improvement of Epic education and implements systems for ongoing training of health care professionals and students. This includes the following approaches and processes:

    1. Implementation, Stabilization and Ongoing Training Approaches
    2. Training Material Design & Development Process
    3. Training Material Maintenance Process (includes templates and standards)
    4. Training Data/Environment Strategy and Maintenance Process
    5. Train-the-Trainer Program & Processes
    6. Pilot Program & Processes
    7. Training Evaluation Process
  2. Provides consultation and presentations to leaders on educational design, implementation and evaluation for system implementation and ongoing support.
  3. Leads, coordinates, integrates, and delivers training for Epic implementation, upgrade, and optimization projects. Develops effective relationships with project teams, clinicians, and organizational leaders for successful Epic training. Promotes and facilitates dissemination of information and communication to support organizational team work.
  4. Responsible for providing updates to project sponsors and stakeholders on Epic training, including but not limited to, learning approaches, learning events, number of trainees per course and evaluation reports from learning events
  5. Manages resources for the delivery of successful training. Includes management of training resources, personnel, consultants, related budgets, risk management, monitoring and reporting on training metrics.
  6. Selects, directs, develops, evaluates, and when necessary disciplines team members. Develops and coaches Managers in leadership skills and develops the training team into effective adult educators.
  7. Develops a team of instructors from a variety of departments into effective adult educators, providing on going professional growth of team members. Responsible for teaching project management principles, training and change management methodologies.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Master’s degree in adult education or instructional design required.
  2. Knowledge and experience in the delivery of large scale change through project work, customer service, process improvement, and adult education. Experience with instructional design or educational program development. Experience with training implementation for technology applications. Experience directing training teams in enterprise education initiatives. Previous experience in a health care setting preferred.
  3. Demonstrates excellent communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  4. Possesses excellent teaching and coaching skills that foster critical thinking and self-directed learning.
  5. Demonstrates project management and leadership skills with ability to effectively lead teams to deliver results in a matrixed organization.
  6. Proficient in use of word processing and presentation software, in addition to training development and deployment software (Visio, SnagIt, Captivate, Articulate)
  7. Ability to operate and move audiovisual equipment. Ability to provide troubleshooting for training room laptop and projection equipment.
