Position Summary:
Manages
the technical functions of the Children's Surgical Foundation financial
reporting team: accounting,
payroll, accounts payable, taxation, practice plan billing, and preparation of
financial statements. Coordinates
the functions related to the reporting of financial statistics and to provide
senior management with information to make decisions and to develop resourceful
solutions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Implements and maintains departmental policies and
procedures in relation to the technical functions of the accounting
department. Designs financial reporting formats.
- Performs and reviews the reconciliation of assigned
account balances for each period.
- Maintains the general ledger system and prepares or
reviews journal entries relating to accounts payable, payroll, investment
accounts, long-term debt activity, and self-insurance. Provides monthly
reporting, ongoing review and development of procedures and report formats,
and interacting with users of general ledger data.
- Ensures the timely and accurate completion of internal
and consolidated financial statements. Monitors and evaluates budget variance
responses. Reviews financial results with the director.

Provides support to administrator and director
requesting financial information and analysis.

Acts
as resource to payroll and practice managers in regards to technical issues.

Monitors all agreements between the corporation and
Hospital.

Resolves inquiries from the Internal Revenue Service
and Social Security Administration.
Completes special projects that may include workflow analyses,
feasibility studies, etc.

Completes or reviews the completion of outside
surveys.

Assists the director in coordination and preparation
for the year-end audits.

Resource to
accounting staff on technical matters relating to financials, by keeping up to
date with generally-accepted accounting principles (FASB, GAAP, etc.). May interact with third party, funds,
treasury, and patient financial services to ensure accurate information
exchange.

Supervises
all subordinate accounting staff of the corporation.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities:
1.
Bachelors degree in accounting required. CPA preferred.
2.
Minimum three years of public accounting experience,
healthcare accounting experience preferred.
3.
Computer literate in spreadsheets, database, and
mainframe applications.
4.
Working knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger,
payroll, and budgeting.
5.
Strong planning skills, evidenced by current level of
responsibility and related experience.
6.
Ability to take initiative by identifying problems,
conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change.
7.
Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing,
complex technical issues in a clear, concise manner, to individuals with little
or no technical background.
