Thank you Kohl's Department Stores for giving Children's Memorial its largest corporate gift to date

The children of Chicago's West Garfield Park community have a new safe place to play, thanks to Kohl's Department Stores. Kohl's recently pledged $5 million to Children's Memorial Hospital to launch the Kohl's Cares for Kids® Safety Network and provide continued support for the hospital's Family Services programs.

The Kohl's Cares for Kids® Safety Network is dedicated to preventing unintentional injury, which is the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 0 and 14 and to improving safety conditions for children in their homes and neighborhoods. One such initiative is the Safe at Play program for which Kohl's has pledged to build five new playgrounds throughout Chicago during the next five years.

This past summer, more than 150 Kohl's associates worked side by side with West Garfield Park residents to build the first of these playgrounds, which meet the latest Consumer Products Safety Council standards.

Kohl's gift, the largest corporate gift to the hospital to date, is made possible by the Kohl's Cares for Kids® program. Throughout the year, Kohl's sells special items with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting health and educational opportunities in the communities Kohl's serves.

A portion of Kohl's $5 million gift will support Children's Memorial Family Services programs, which address the developmental, social and emotional needs of hospitalized children and their families.
