The Founders' Board of Children's Memorial Hospital hosted the 48th Annual Children's Memorial Hospital Pro Amateur Golf Championship , presented by Huron Consulting Group and United Airlines on Monday, June 23, 2008 at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest.

The Pro Amateur Golf Championship is the Founders' Board's longest running and most successful fundraising event and is the second oldest Pro Am golf tournament in the country. The event brings together a select group of business leaders and hospital supporters for a wonderful day of golf while raising valuable funds for Children's Memorial. Golf professionals from 50 of the top rated, most prestigious country clubs in the nation were invited to play alongside the amateurs.

To enhance the event, players, corporate sponsors, hospital leadership and Founders' Board members were invited to attend the Tee-Off Dinner and Auction at Shoreacres in Lake Bluff on Sunday, June 22, 2008. This year's party was held on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan — the perfect setting for celebrating and recognizing the generosity of the event's corporate sponsors and individual players.

Guests had the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind auction items and to win giveaways provided by our generous sponsors. At the conclusion of the tournament participants were invited to The 19th Hole Awards Party that included cocktails, a buffet dinner and an awards ceremony.

The 2008 event recorded record-breaking results, raising over $1.2 million to support the Founders’ Board’s five-year, $10 million commitment to Children’s Memorial Hospital’s Department of Family Services.  Of the $1.2 million raised, nearly $700,000 was generated from corporate sponsorships and an additional $300,000 was raised through the Auction at the Tee-Off Dinner.

All proceeds raised from the event went to help the Founders' Board complete its five year, $10 million pledge to Children's Memorial Hospital's Department of Family Services. In 2007, the event raised more than $1 million to support the Section of Pediatric, Adolescent and Maternal HIV Infection.
