Training for physicians
The Division of Pediatric Urology at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago
periodically presents workshops on the medical approach to the diagnosis and
treatment of children who wet. The program is designed for physicians and their
allied paramedical personnel. Participants receive a certificate and attain
confidence in the management of this often frustrating problem.
The program also includes an overview of a fully dedicated urodynamic
laboratory. The program is designed to be user-friendly for kids, minimally
invasive, and conducted in a caring, concerned atmosphere.
Advanced training in treating children who wet
This is the first comprehensive program offered to medical professionals
providing organized clinical strategies, support, and patient materials
necessary for the successful treatment of enuresis. Also rather than referring
patients with wetting problems, primary care physicians will be able to
successfully manage the treatment of those patients themselves.
Basics of the program
The pediatric enurology program is based on the concept that wetting may be
related to enuresis vs. incontinence. Clinicians learn how to use multimodal
treatments, which are the essence of the Try for Dry approach. The treatments
systematically address the most common factors in the wet child: deep sleep,
small functional bladder capacity, food sensitivities, bowel irregularity and
psychological issues. The hands-on teaching format instills confidence in
treatment techniques that are immediately applicable in clinicians' practices.
Participating in the program
One-day workshops are presented periodically at Children's Memorial Hospital
in Chicago. Additionally, physicians can arrange to attend three half-day
clinics at the hospital to fulfill fellowship requirements or workshops can be
arranged at hospitals off-site. The pediatric enurology seminar schedule is
sponsored by the Department of Urology at Northwestern University's Feinberg
School of Medicine. Certificates of training are available.
