Bladder tests

To help gather specific date about how a child's bladder is functioning, the urodynamics department provides several tests that may suggest helpful treatment plans. The most common indications for urodynamic testing include the following:

  • Neurogenic bladder (one that has a neurologic impairment)
This impairment is often found in children with spina bifida, or myelomeningocele, spinal cord injuries and in other conditions.
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Bed wetting (enuresis)
  • Incontinence (loss of urinary control)
  • Incomplete bladder emptying
  • And others

Please feel free to ask questions about any of the bladder tests. Call Ingrid Richards, urodynamics nurse coordinator, at 773.880.4381 or leave a message at 773.880.4428.
