Kohl's House
A "home away from home" for transplant patients and their families...
Kohl's House at Children's Memorial Hospital is a home-away-from-home for
transplant patients and their families. A state-of-the-art facility located just
steps away from the hospital, it offers families a convenient, comfortable place
to stay that's close to their transplant team and follow-up care.
Once patients of families that don't live close by are discharged from the
hospital, they can move to Kohl's House. Here, patients receive home health
services. And families have convenient, affordable accommodations during a time
of healing and recovery.
What does Kohl's House offer its guests?
Kohl's House is a large, three-story brick "flat" that is wheelchair
accessible. The house is designed to give children and their families "a world
of their own" while promoting infection control. The relaxed atmosphere also
offers:
- Eight bedrooms (each with two twin beds and a private bathroom)
- Spacious and fully equipped kitchen
- Large family room
- Colorful playroom
- Cozy sitting areas
- Direct communication with the hospital's inpatient and outpatient areas
- Access to the hospital's closed-circuit Skylight TV, which offers games
and other interactive activities
How much does it cost?
We ask families to contribute $5 per night to help defray costs for upkeep
and operation. No patient or family referred to Kohl's House will be turned away
if space is available.
