Aural Habilitation Clinic for children newly identified with hearing loss

Children’s Memorial Hospital offers a four-week educational and therapeutic program, designed to teach families techniques to help their child achieve their maximum potential in the development of listening, speech and language skills.

What is the Aural Habilitation Clinic?

The Aural Habilitation Clinic is led by our certified speech-language pathologists and provides education, support and hands-on training to families with children who have recently been diagnosed with a hearing loss.

Research shows that early identification, early amplification, early intervention and strong family involvement yield the most favorable outcomes for children with hearing loss.

Aural Habilitation Clinic sessions will help you understand:

  • Important issues related to your child's hearing loss
  • How to troubleshoot problems with your child's hearing aids/cochlear implants
  • How children acquire listening and language skills
  • Strategies and techniques to help develop your child's listening and language skills
