We see patients at multiple locations, performing 109,000 pediatric procedures each year. This includes 9,800 MRIs, of which 80 percent are done on medically complex and/or sedated children.
Your patient experience
When you step into any of our facilities, you enter a vibrant, kid-friendly atmosphere. Our spaces are designed to make families feel comfortable -- from waiting room activities to themed exam rooms.
You are encouraged to stay with your child, and participate during procedures. Experience has taught us that, for almost all procedures, a familiar face reduces a child's anxiety and helps the procedure run more smoothly.
Our commitment to quality, safety and innovation
To give you and your child the safest, best results, our Department of Medical Imaging:
- Is part of an international coalition that educates all providers to “child-size” radiation doses – the Image Gently campaign.
- Has undergone intense scrutiny by national peers, achieving accreditation from the American College of Radiology in CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound. This ensures our equipment, staff and standards deliver the best possible imaging experience.
- Offers an expert team specifically trained in pediatric imaging.
- Invests in the most technologically advanced innovations. One example to debut with the opening of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is a CT Flash scanner. This new technology will image patients so quickly it will reduce the need for sedation, while maintaining the highest image quality and delivering the lowest possible radiation dose.
Training tomorrow's pediatric imaging specialists
As the pediatric training site for Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, we train residents and fellows. We are also the clinical site for many affiliated imaging programs at colleges including Wilbur Wright College, Triton College, Moraine Valley Community College and the College of DuPage.
