Clinical services

  • Evaluation and management of suspected cases of child maltreatment including:
    • Providing immediate psychosocial and medical assessment of children and families, inpatient & Emergency Department evaluations
    • Pooling the knowledge and coordinating efforts of the various disciplines and professionals within the hospital and those of outside agencies, public and voluntary, serving an individual and the family
    • Making recommendations to cooperating agencies for treatment plans and long term care
  • Safekids Clinic
    • Outpatient evaluation and management of victims of crime, eg. suspected sexual abuse
    • Follow-up of cases of maltreatment
      • Failure to thrive
      • Abusive head injury
      • Children in foster care
    • Primary care for children at risk for maltreatment, such as drug-exposed infants
  • Membership in the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Education and Evaluation Consortium (MPEEC)
  • Referrals for trauma-focused therapy for victims of violence including abuse.
  • Expert testimony in juvenile and criminal court
