The Children's Memorial Hospital Protective Services Team provides optimal
assessment and facilitates appropriate interventions for child victims of abuse
and neglect who present to the Hospital.

The Protective Services Team brings together professionals from different
disciplines to provide evaluation of and intervention services to children who
may have been maltreated. This interdisciplinary team collaborates to assure
coordinated and continuous care for children at risk for, or victims of, abuse
or neglect. The team also:
- Provides educational programs to professionals who care and advocate for
children, to the families who use Children's Memorial Hospital services, and
to the surrounding community to increase awareness and improve prevention and
detection of abuse and neglect;
- Through research, contributes new knowledge about the prevention,
identification, and treatment of child maltreatment;
- Advocates for programs and interventions to help prevent abuse and neglect
and to improve the outcome for its victims.
The multi-disciplinary team includes pediatricians, radiologists, social
workers, a developmental and behavioral psychologist, a child protective
services representative and other medical specialists and professionals involved
in the evaluation of a particular child.
