NICU visitor information
Visits by family and friends help the healing process. Parents/guardians are welcome 24 hours a day, seven days a week. General visiting guidelines are listed here. Please contact the charge nurse on your child's floor about cases that may need exceptions.
Healthy visiting relatives and friends
- Are welcome every day from 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.
- Must be over the age of 16, unless they are a sibling.
- Should check in at the main NICU desk before entering the patient's room.
- May visit while the parents or guardians are not present, if parents/guardians have shared names with the NICU nurses.
- Only two people at a time will be allowed at the child's bedside and should stay at the bedside of the child they are visiting.
- Should be aware that they will be asked to leave the room during change of nursing shifts, physician rounds or if an emergency situation occurs.
- Must be healthy/free from infection. Learn more about our current visitation restrictions.
Visiting siblings
- A developmental specialist or nurse will prepare siblings for visits by talking about what they will see.
- Visits must be prearranged with the bedside nurse and will be limited to 30 minutes, once a week.
- Must have current immunization records.
- Must be healthy/free from infection.
- Must wash their hands and wear a mask before going into the patient's room.
- Must be with an adult at all times while in the NICU.
