Preparing for your analysis

a boy's pitching captured with 3-D cameras

While the athlete pitches, 3-D cameras around the room track the reflective markers and a dynamic biomechanical profile of his pitching motion is generated.

On the day of your appointment:

  • The athlete should not be experiencing any pain. If there has been a recent injury or pain, the athlete must be cleared by a physician to pitch.
  • The athlete should not pitch prior to their appointment. They should not pitch at all on the day of their appointment, as doing so can affect motion patterns and the integrity of the analysis.
  • Athletes need to wear or bring elastic waistband shorts, low-cut socks, gym shoes, a baseball hat, and their baseball glove to the Motion Analysis Center.
  • Athletes should not apply skin lotion or cream on the day of their appointment as the lubrication from lotions can make it difficult for the markers used to record motion to adhere to the skin.
