Immunology laboratory
The Diagnostic Immunology and Flow Cytometry Laboratory specializes in the
diagnosis and monitoring of primary immunodeficiency, immune reconstitution
following bone marrow transplant and autoimmune diseases. The laboratory is a
world leader in the development of testing for the diagnosis of congenital
immune deficiency diseases and has also published in the areas of autoimmune
disease and oncology. More here on these

The laboratory at specializes in the analysis of pediatrics both with respect
to sample size requirements as well as test ranges specifically established for
the investigation of parameters in children.
Director
The Diagnostic Immunology and Flow Cytometry Laboratory is directed by
Maurice R.G. O'Gorman, PhD, D (ABMLI), MBA, professor of Pathology and Pediatric
Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University and vice
chair of the Department of Pathology at the Children's Memorial Hospital. Dr.
O'Gorman received both his Master of Science degree and his PhD in academic
pathology from the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada. He
completed a fellowship in diagnostic laboratory immunology in the departments of
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel
Hill and is board certified in Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology. He
recently completed a Master's degree in business administration from the Kellogg
School of Management's executive MBA program.
Dr. O'Gorman is available for special consultation regarding appropriateness
of testing, specimen requirements, available test procedures and interpretation
of test results.

Technologists
The laboratory is staffed by certified medical technologists: Loren Lott,
MT(ASCP), Leslie Wolfsen MLT(ASCP), Erin Fullmer MT(ASCP), Erica Jackson
MT(ASCP) and Jennifer Little, MT(ASCP). The laboratory is managed by Nicolas
Bensen MT(ASCP).
Laboratory operations
The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists,
CLIA and the Joint Commission as a full-service immunology and flow cytometry
laboratory.
Hours of operation:
The laboratory is regularly staffed between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. five days a
week. After hours and on weekends a call service is available for medically
emergent services. The on-call pager number is x4361. The laboratory accepts
samples seven days a week/24 hours. For very specialized services phoning ahead
is advised because there are guidelines as to when specific tests can be
performed.

The Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory serves as a full-service reference
laboratory to numerous hospitals (both adult and pediatric) as well as numerous
