Psychology discipline
Psychology is one of several
professional disciplines within the Department of Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry. Presently, its staff
consists of nine full-time and six part-time psychologists. All staff psychologists hold clinical
appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences,
Northwestern
University Feinberg School of
Medicine. The entire psychology staff participates
in the internship
program, both through direct supervision and presentation of
seminars. During the year, each
intern has the opportunity to work with most of the psychologists on the staff,
with some flexibility to pursue common interests.
Psychologists at Children’s come from a
variety of educational backgrounds and theoretical orientations which are
reflected in different approaches to therapy and supervision. They provide exposure to a diversity of
clinical styles and professional interests thereby allowing interns to learn
from a range of professional models.
