Hemophilia and thrombophilia program
The Comprehensive Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Program of Children's Memorial Hospital is a federally funded designated regional hemophilia treatment center that provides comprehensive services to children with bleeding and thrombotic (clotting) disorders.
The program provides treatment to children with medical conditions including:
- Hemophilia and related bleeding disorders
- Von Willebrand's disease
- Platlet function disorders
- Thrombocytopenia (ITP)
- Acquired bleeding disorder
- Thrombosis (clotting tendency)
The comprehensive care may include visits with a hematologist, a hemophilia/thrombophilia nurse specialist, a physical therapist, a genetic counselor, a social worker and a pediatric dentist.
Because it is our goal to provide a family-friendly environment, we also offer these family services: A playroom for siblings (at Children's Memorial Hospital), "Parents Empowering Parents" support series, family educational meetings, school visits, family day outings, holiday parties and a scholarship fund.
