Each year, we administer about 15,000 anesthetics for all types of surgery at the main hospital and Children's Memorial Outpatient Centers in Westchester and Glenview.
Read more from Department Head Dr. Steven Hall about the safety of pediatric anesthesia, and how pediatric anesthesiologists are best equipped to understand how to care for children, especially babies and toddlers.
In addition to services in surgery and post-operative pain relief, we provide anesthesia services in the hospital's Department of Medical Imaging and cardiac catheterization laboratory. We also administer an acute and chronic pain treatment service, and oversee sedation of children for diagnostic procedures in many areas of the hospital, including consults in intensive care units.
As a national leader of research into drugs, equipment and techniques to increase the safety of administering anesthesia to children, we also offer a program for anesthesiology residents, fellows and allied health personnel. Medical staff also serves on national and international committees, contributes to and edits anesthesiology textbooks.
