Genetics of Asthma in Latino Americans (GALA II)
This is a study of the genetic and environmental causes of asthma in Hispanics/Latinos. Knowing which genes and environmental factors are responsible for asthma will help doctors better understand its causes. In the future this information will help others that suffer from asthma.
We are currently enrolling healthy and asthmatic Hispanics/Latinos from the Chicago area to participate in this study. The study involves an interview about your respiratory health, giving a sample of blood, a breathing test (spirometry) and an allergy skin test. This study will take only one hour of your time. All information is confidential.
To participate you must:
- Be 8 - 18 years of age
- Complete a health questionnaire
- Receive an allergy skin test
- Give a blood or saliva sample
